Introducing…Asher! Daddy and Mommy waited a long time for this 6 pounds 13 ounces of perfection. Mommy was glowing for her maternity portraits a few weeks before but the love radiating here for her sweet baby boy is breathtaking.

I just love his puckered lips!

This precious little man has the most beautiful, smooth skin! It’s very common for newborn babies to have red spots, little pimples, rough patches and/or flakey, peeling skin. They’ve been snuggled safe and warm in momma’s tummy for months…entering this big, scary world is quite a shock to the system. All the natural protection from the womb is gone and baby’s skin is exposed to different temperatures, environmental elements, even their own fingernails become a bit of a hazard. Typically skin conditions are minor in the first 2 weeks of life which is another great reason to schedule your newborn session early. Around 1 month old it can get a little overwhelming. But don’t worry, it’s completely normal and it will all clear up in a few more weeks.

Part of my job as a newborn portrait artist is hand detailing and retouching each of your images. I prefer to use a soft and natural approach so the true skin texture shows beautifully minus the tiny belemishes. I never want my babies or any of my clients to look like plastic dolls or worse, not like yourself! At your session, we will talk about any birthmarks and “stork bites” (red patches typically around the forehead and eyes that fade the first few months after birth) and discuss what you would like me to leave natural and what you would like me to remove. This same highly detailed retouching is for mom and dad as well! After birth your hormones are all over the place which may lead to a few break outs. You certainly aren’t sleeping as much as normal and may have dark eye circles, red eyes and dehydrated skin. Probably every mom’s biggest concern with portraits…you just gave life to a human …it’s perfectly normal to have a few extra pounds. Please don’t stress! I guarantee you are all going to look gorgeous!
