Unique Houston Maternity Portraits | Waiting for Baby Ezra

January 24, 2016

Glowing soon-to-be mommys are some of my favorite subjects to photograph. There’s just something so surreal and beautiful about growing a new life. I hear all the time “I would never want maternity photos” or “I’m way too fat for a photo shoot.” Stop it! You are not fat! You are creating a human!!! I said the same things when I was pregnant and not documenting that time will always haunt me.

One way to take a little pressure off yourself and make sure you feel your most beautiful for maternity portraits (or any photos) is to use the services of a professional hair and makeup artist for your photo session. It is such an amazing treat to get all dolled up with a pro and takes so much pressure off getting ready! You can go as natural or as dramatic as you like – with a little posing direction and a lot of fun we will create a memory of this time that will last forever.

Meet Erica! This gorgeous mommy is my go-to professional hair and makeup artist…so, of course, she was absolutely radiant for her session! Sweet baby Ezra will be making his grand entrance in just a few weeks and Erica couldn’t be more excited for all the adventures headed her way. He is already so loved and so spoiled! I can’t wait to get him in the studio for newborn portraits!

Erica wanted a fresh, urban, slightly edgy vibe for her session so we headed to Downtown Richmond, Texas. This area is full of interesting textures and colors. It’s one of my favorite places to shoot and get tons of variety in our scenery. We had the most amazing weather for a January afternoon – 70 degrees and a stellar sunset.

Erica will be taking a few weeks off to settle into her new mommy role but will be available for late Spring sessions. Don’t forget to ask me about booking her for your next photo shoot!
